Biography

Silvia Codignola (1962, Ivrea, Italy) lives and works in Rome.

Following an university degree in architecture, Silvia Codignola worked in theater as an assistant to set and costume designer Luciano Damiani.

In 1996, her first two solo exhibitions were held at the A.A.M. gallery (Rome) curated by Marco Vallora and Federico Vercellone and at the historic Il Polittico gallery (Rome) with a presentation by Duccio Trombadori. Her work has been exhibited extensively in Italy including at the National Gallery of Modern Art (GNAM), MAXXI, the Italian Pavilion of the Venice Biennale (Lazio section) curated by Vittorio Sgarbi and her recent solo show “Autobiografia della madre” at the Museo Bilotti in Villa Borghese (2017).

Commissions include a large format triptych for “Il Tempo” the Italian newspaper’s Rome headquarters (2003), the fountain mosaic for Piazza San Cosimato in Rome (2006) and an international television series to be released in Winter 2019.

In 2018, her work with sculptures has been exhibited in “Codignola/Tramonti” at Il Frantoio Gallery (Capalbio, Italy) and at the Francesco Zanuso Gallery (Milan, Italy).
