Marina Sersale is an autodidact photographer who masters the interaction between light and shadow. A former documentary filmmaker, she now lives in Rome and is a creator of perfumes. Marina Sersale started taking photographs when she bought her first iPhone in 2012, posting her pictures on Instagram. In November 2015 her work was shown for the first time in the collective “Chance Encounters” show, held at the N.6 Gallery in Tehran, Iran.
“I’m not interested in the obvious beauty of places or people, but in what is not immediately visible, or in what becomes visible when you extrapolate one part of a scene and show the interaction between various elements within it to create something new. For me, reality is not necessarily what you see, but also what you choose to look at.”
