  Our philosophy

ILEX was created with the desire to bring inspiring images from well-renowned and established photographers to as wide a range of people as possible.
Set up like a virtual lounge, you can choose to gaze at the prints and listen to a photographer tell you the story behind an image. ILEX hopes to awaken in you a passion in photography. And since we believe its fun to share your passions, all the photographs at ILEX can be taken home with you. We want to make the photograph as accessible as possible - by fixing large editions of up to 300 prints, with fixed formats and prices, our aim is to remove the barrier that separates fine art photography from the public, so that you can let photography into your life.

Who are we?

We are passionate about photography. ILEX was created by Deanna Richardson, curator of photography books and exhibitions. The objective of ILEX is to encourage a new model of collecting photography, by maintaining the quality of fine art photography at reasonable and affordable prices.

Our prints

ILEX prints are sold in two formats: Standard (30 x 40 cm) or Extra (110 x 170 cm). They are fine art prints, numbered, authenticated and certified in limited editions of up to 300. This choice allows us to keep prices accessibile, without compromising on the quality of the prints or the collector's market. ILEX has chosen to digitally print its photographs on Hahnemühle FineArt paper to provide you with premium quality images. combining the precision of modern photographic papers and the unique charm of artistic papers. Your photographs will remain vivid throughout the years thanks to the archival quality of the paper. All our photographs are digitally printed at the 10b Photography laboratory in Rome, Italy. ILEX prints come with white cotton gloves for you to use when handling your photograph, so as to protect it from smudges and unseemly marks.

Authenticity of prints

Each photographer likes his or her prints to look a certain way. At ILEX we fully respect this and every print is made following one signed artist's proof authenticated by the photographer. Each photographic print is annotated with the photographer's name, the series number and embossed with the ILEX seal, which is your certificate that your print is of museum quality.

ILEX was taken from a line in Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller

"Tania is like Irene. She expects fat letters. But there is another Tania, a Tania like a big seed, who scatters pollen everywhere – or let us say, a little bit like Tolstoy, a stable scene in which the fetus is dug up. Tania is a fever, too – les voies urinaires, Café de la Liberté, Place des Vosges, bright neckties on the Boulevard Montparnasse, dark bathrooms, Porto Sec, Abdullah cigarettes, the adagio sonata Pathétique, aural amplificators, anecdotal séances, burnt sienna breasts, heavy garters, what time is it, golden pheasants stuffed with chestnuts, taffeta fingers, vaporish twilights turning to ilex, acromegaly, cancer and delirium, warm veils, poker chips, carpets of blood and soft thighs. Tania says so that every one may hear: 'I love him!' And while Boris scalds himself with whisky she says: 'Sit down here! O Boris…Russia…what’ll I do? I’m bursting with it.'"
